Painting Techniques for CPI-201
 
NOTE: BC means Basecoat; DB means drybrush: HL means Highlight; WB means wipe back using #760 Antique Media; PB means Pat Back with soft cloth.  Spray means spray with #761 Perfect Matte Spray.
NOTE: Always refer to picture for placement of colors.
NOTE: Materials needed to finish a piece are highlighted in bold print the first time they are used.

CM 259 Kissing Santa 8" t $26.00

Fire bisque to cone 04. Apply one coat of  Mayco Stroke and Coat Down To Earth to both pieces. Before the glaze dries, use water and a sponge to remove most of the glaze from the high areas. Leave some glaze in the crevices as antiquing. Using a #5 round pointed soft brush: Apply  3 coats  of Cherry Bomb to Santa’s suit & hat, Mrs. Claus’ gloves. Apply 3 coats  of   Irish Luck to Mrs. Claus’ dress and Santa’s gloves  Apply 3 coats  of One Stroke Mirror Black to Santa’s belt and boots and apply Birthday Suit to flesh areas. Apply 2 coats of Grey Hair to hair. Float diluted Tuxedo in hair creases. Float diluted Cracker Jack on the edges of the fur. Float diluted Cotton Tail on the top of the fur and hair. Float diluted Wine About It on the cheeks as blush. Using a 010 Liner Brush: Paint eye lashes One Stroke Mirror Black. Allow the glaze to dry thoroughly and dip the pieces into dipping glaze. Allow the dipping glaze to dry thoroughly and fire to cone 06. Apply overglaze, Bright Gold, to Santa’s belt and to Mrs. Claus’ glasses and fire to cone 019.
