Painting Techniques for CPI-213 "Glazey For You!"
 
NOTE: All items were bisque fired to cone 04. Antiquing with glaze means to apply glaze and then wipe off glaze with a sponge and water leaving glaze mainly in the recesses. Many Instructions below refer to diluted glaze which means; glaze diluted with water at 1:1 ratio unless otherwise indicated. Apply clear glaze according to glaze manufacturer’s specifications.
Blending means slightly crossing colors over each other at the edge where they meet in alternating coats.
 
Tl-1286 Ice Cream Box  4”-5.5” t
Antique the cones with SC-41 Brown Cow. Apply 2 coats of SC-46 Rawhide.
Smiley single dip top: Antique with SC-9 Jaded. Apply 2 coats of SC-43 Lettuce Alone. Apply SC-17 Cheeky Pink to Cheeks and Nose. Paint eyes and mouth line SC-15 Tuxedo. Double Dip: Antique ice cream with SC-41 Brown Cow. Apply 2 coats of SC-18 Rosey Posey to top dip and SP-254 Speckled Vanilla Dip to bottom cone. Apply Clear Glaze and fire to cone 06.
 
TL 1287 Jet Box 6” l
Apply two coats of SC-65 Peri-Twinkle to entire plane. Paint window and wing lines SC-15 Tuxedo and SC-74 Hot Tamale. Apply SC-16 White to all windows. Apply Clear glaze and fire to cone 06.
 
TL 1288 Flower Box 4.5” Dia.
Apply 3 coats SC-6 Sunkissed to flower face. Blend 3 coats of SC-65 Peri-twinkle from the inner petals into SC-61 Razzberry Mauve on the outer edge of the petals. Paint outline between and around petals, mouth line and eyes SC-15 Tuxedo. In alternating stripes on the box, apply 3 coats of SC-6 Sunkissed and SC-15 Tuxedo.  Dot yellow stripes with SC-15 Tuxedo. Apply clear glaze and fire to cone 06.
 
TL 1289 Frog Box 6.75” l
Antique frog SC-8 Just Froggy. Apply 3 coats of SC-27 Sour Apple to frog chest and nose. Apply SC-52 Toadily Green to the remainder of the frog and blend the two greens. Paint eyes SC-16 Cotton Tail. Paint iris with SC-50 Orange-Ya-Happy and paint pupils SC-15 Tuxedo. Apply random dots to frog back and legs with SC-15 Tuxedo and SC-75 Orange-A-Peel. Apply 3 coats of SC-75 Orange-A-Peel to inner frog. Apply clear glaze and fire to cone 06.
  
M-877 Small Dolphins 6.5” l
Antique water SC-10 Teal Next Time. Apply 2 coats of SC-9 Jaded to lower portion of water blending into 2 coats of SC-44 Fountain of Youth on the top of the waves. Apply 3 coats of SC-32 Bluebeard to backs of dolphins blending into 3 coats of SC-60 Silver Lining on the bellies and around the eyes of the dolphins. Apply SC-15 Tuxedo to eyes. Apply 3 coats of SC-32 Bluebeard to bottom rim. Apply clear glaze and fire to cone 06.
 
M-878  Large Dolphins 13” l
Antique water with SC-29 Blue Grass
Apply 3 coats S-2121 Shiny Black to dolphins & bottom rim. Apply 3 thick coats of SC-31 The Blues to raised areas (as pictured) Dry with hair dryer or heat gun immediately (cracks should appear) Then float around outside edges with SC-31 The Blues to soften. Dab PC- White Cascade on blue areas. Apply 3 coats clear glaze on waves. Fire to an 06 witness cone.
 
TL 1284 Turtle Box  5.5” l
TL 1285 Turtle Lid
Mix SC-75 Orange-a-Peel & SC-210 Roll-a-Coat and roll around inside till completely covered. Apply 3 coats SC-223 Speckled Jack O’ Lantern to shell. Apply 3 coats SC-43 Lettuce Alone to skin. Paint crevices & designs with SC-36 Irish Luck Paint squares, toenails & eyes SC-16 Cotton Tail. Paint irises SC-30 Blue Dawn. Paint pupils & lashes OS1 Mirror Black. Apply Clear Glaze and fire to cone 06.
 
3862 Large Cylinder Vase 9.75” t
Apply 3 coats of S-2564 Sun Yellow to entire vase. Allow to dry. Shade and splatter various areas of the vase with diluted SC-21 Sunburn. Paint the rim and base of the vase with undiluted SC-21 Sunburn. Paint a grape cluster pattern using SC-13 Grapel and random shadings of SC-19 Plum Crazy. Paint a grape vine and tendrils with SC-34 Down to Earth around top of vase leading to grape clusters. Apply SC-39 Army Surplus in grape leaf patterns and shade leaves with SC-8 Just Froggy. Outline all grapes, leaves and vine with a thin line of SC-15 Tuxedo. Allow to dry and fire to cone 06.
 
3863 Medium Cylinder Vase 9” t
Apply 3 coats of S-2562 Canton Jade to outside of vase and S-2590 Intense Yellow to inside of vase. Allow to dry and paint a thin line of SC-21 Sunburn to rim and base. Float diluted SC-9 Jaded on the lower portion of the vase. To create very translucent back ground bamboo, streak vertical lines with very diluted (3:1 Water: Color) SC-41 Brown randomly and sparingly. Paint a pattern of foreground bamboo with less diluted (1:1) SC-41 Brown Cow. Paint random bamboo leaves with diluted SC-36 Irish Luck. Apply random flowers with SC-74 Hot Tamale. Outline the shadow side of the bamboo and the entire leaves with a thin line of SC-15 Tuxedo. Allow to dry and fire to cone 06.
 
3864 Small Cylinder Vase 8.75” t
Apply 3 coats of S-2565 Cloud White to entire vase. Allow to dry. Apply a thin line of SC-21 Sunburn to rim and base. Shade and splatter various areas of the vase with very (3:1) diluted SC-44 Fountain of Youth and very diluted SC-2 Melon-Choly. Paint short grass blades from base up with diluted SC-10 Teal Next Time. Paint Dragon fly body with diluted SC-43 Lettuce Alone. Paint wings with diluted SC-30 Blue Dawn. Paint Eyes with SC-21 Sunburn. Outline Body and wing lines with thin line of SC-15 Tuxedo. Allow to dry and fire to cone 06.
 
B-992 Brush Holder 7” t
Apply 3 coats of the following Stoke and Coats to the following areas: SC-11 Blue Yonder to outer pockets, SC-24 Dandelion to center pocket, SC-75 Orange-A-Peel to handle, SC-27 Sour Apple to inside. Line and decorate with one thick coat of SC-15 Tuxedo. Apply clear dipping glaze and fire to cone 06.
 
3865 Itsy Bitsy Spider 3.5” l
Apply 3 coats CG-798 Black Iris. Let dry between coats. Fire at an 06 cone.
